ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
P.O.

INDIANAPOLIS,

Dear DINFOS alumni/associates:
A
couple of weeks ago I suddenly realized
that 2009 was soon coming to an end with
its bright celebration of Christmas and
the coming New Year, and it was time again
to send holiday greetings and to briefly
bring all our members and associates up to
date on what has occurred during this past
year.
All
has been going well with the Alumni
Association, and we have increased our
membership over 400 this year. Here are
the highlights:
A Change of Command ceremony took place at DINFOS. Ft.
Meade, MD, on June 5, 2009. US Army
Colonel Gary L. Keck became the school's
new Commandant replacing US Navy Captain
W. Curry Graham. Colonel Keck is
interested in the DINFOS Alumni
Association and hopes to join as at one of
our future meetings.
I
mentioned last year, in the spring of
2008, DINFOS at Ft. Meade began
distributing free, one-year membership
cards to all interested new DINFOS
graduates. Over 300 graduates have taken
advantage of this program since it began.
Also,
the DINFOS Alumni Association again this
year, as part of its objectives and
purposes, purchased over $500 text
books to add to the DINFOS Paul Savanuck
Library collection.

During
2009, we convened several Alumni
Association Executive Council meetings. At
our last Executive
Council meeting, we set the date of
January 23, 2010 for our next membership
meeting, a
luncheon meeting to be held at The
Garrison at Ft. Harrison. I'm sure many of
you will remember our guest speaker, LTC
Charles Ricks, (USA-Ret), from DINFOS.
Rick's speech, "U.S. Crisis
Communication in Afghanistan and Other
Cultures," should be
very timely and of interest to all.
It
is with much sadness that I must report
the loss of two of our DINFOS colleagues
during the last year -- Mrs.
Delores Mullenholz and SFC Larry Powell.
I
wish you the happiest of holidays, and may
the New Year bring you health and
successful fulfillment of all your
commitments.
Sincerely,
Jack Rubak
President
