A meeting of the Executive Council of the Indiana Chapter of the DINFOS convened on June 20, 2009 at 11:00 at The Garrison Restaurant at the Ft. Benjamin Harrison State Park.

Members Present:

Jack Rubak, President

Mike Davis

Mike Scott

Helen Stritt

Members Absent:

Tom Conrad

Bob Foster

Mike LaBonne

The President opened the meeting by mentioning that DINFOS has a new Commandant, Colonel Gary Keck, and distributed copies of his bio.  For review and comments, Rubak distributed a letter he had drafted to Colonel Keck in which he explained what the DINFOS Alumni Association is all about and asking his support.  Those members in attendance felt the letter was good but suggested adding a sentence that would reqquire his response.  Also, in response to Rubak’s suggestion about making Colonel Keck an Honorary Member of the DINFOS Alumni Association, all were in agreement this would be a good idea.  A certificate will be prepared and sent to him.

Rubak further mentioned that Tom Conrad had updated the Student Membership Cards and the Alumni Association’s Brochures adding the names of the two new Hall of Famers.  These were printed, and a supply was sent to DINFOS at Ft. Meade.

How to handle the renewal of those student members who received their one-year, free memberships was discussed.   Mike Scott suggested that instead of mailing letters, we contact them about renewal using their e-mail addresses.  Rubak said he will work with Mike in preparing a draft letter/message to these graduates asking them if they are interested in taking out a paid membership.

The next order of business was to select a date for the next Alumni Association meeting as well as to suggest a speaker.  All were in agreement that it be an 11:30 luncheon meeting at the Garrison, and that we try to get the Commandant as the guest speaker.  The date of September 18 was proposed with an alternate date of September 25.  If the Commandant cannot make it, then Mike Davis said he will contact the PAO at Grissom AFB to find out if there would be somebody available who has served in Iraq or Afghanistan that could serve as a guest speaker.

Since no further word has been received about the Communications Museum at the school, Rubak will contact Bob Foster to see if he has received any updates on its status.

The Indiana Chapter of the DINFOS Alumni Association still needs a Treasurer.  Nominations were solicited.  We will also continue our efforts to get a tax-exempt status.

The meeting adjourned at 1255.

Respectfully submitted,

Jack Rubak, President

Helen C. Stritt, Secretary
