A meeting of the Executive
Council of the DINFOS Alumni Association was held on December
3, 2005 at The Golden Corral Restaurant, 7920 N. Shadeland
Avenue, at 9:00 AM. Present were:
Jack Rubak, President
Bob Foster
Tom Conrad
Mike Davis
Marina Griner
Helen Stritt
The President opened the
meeting, and the following items were discussed.
The first order of business
was a report on establishing a Memorial for the deceased
members of the DINFOS Alumni Association. Rubak said that
Colonel Hiram Bell, the current DINFOS Commandant, is
refurbishing the entrance to the lobby at the school and
special plaques may be added to include the deceased Alumni
Association members as well as a listing of the Life Members.
To keep our members and those
on our current mailing list up-to-date, the President will
prepare a letter informing them of the status of the Alumni
Association and reminding them if they haven’t done so, to be
sure and visit our website. Also, we’ll want to include in
this letter that the Alumni Association is donating some of
its funds for books for the DINFOS Library at Ft. Meade. A
copy of this letter will be forwarded to Bob Foster who will,
in turn, post this letter on the DINFOS website.
Bob Foster asked for the
following:
- A history of the
DINFOS Alumni Association to add to the website.
(Helen Stritt and
Mike Davis will work on preparing this history.)
_ Help with alphabetizing the listing of DINFOS
graduates/associates on his Micro-soft Excel**
website. (Helen Stritt will contact her nephew, a computer
expert, to see if he can be of assistance.)

When the DINFOS Alumni Association becomes a
not-for-profit organization from the state of Indiana, he
would like to add Pay-Pal so memberships can be paid
on-line.
It is time to vote for new
officers of the Alumni Association. The Treasurer, Craig Ito,
has resigned, and the term of office has expired for the
current 2nd Vice President for Memberships, Dave
Mossbarger. A slate of new officers will be prepared and
submitted at the next meeting to include the length of the
term of office for each position as listed in the By-Laws.
These names were proposed to serve on the Executive Council
-- Frank Tilton, Dave Zolle, Perry Brandt and Dave Rook. Other
nominees will be solicited.
Hall of Fame nominations were
solicited. Dick Cassin has submitted his nomination, with the
necessary papers attached. Two other nominations were
received – Les Payne nominated by Rod Hargo and Tommie
Tompkins nominated by Dave Terry. Hall of Fame Nomination
forms were sent to Rod Hargo and Dave Terry, but as yet, no
substantiating papers have been received.
In our Christmas newsletter,
we’ll include Hall of Fame nomination forms and ask that
nominees with the necessary paperwork be submitted by the end
of January 2006. Three nominations were proposed at this
meeting – Colonel Hiram Bell, Colonel Ronald Grubb, USA-Ret,
and LTC Chuck Ricks, USA-Ret. A Hall of Fame Selection
Committee will then be convened to review all nomination forms
received. This Committee will consist of Tom Conrad and Mike
Davis as Co-Chairman. John Brady, Frank Tilton and Dave Zolle
will be contacted to see if they would be interested in
serving on the Committee. The criteria for selection are
listed on the Hall of Fame Nomination Form.
We will consider holding our
next meeting sometime in the spring – possibly March.
Possible speakers are Colonel Hiram Bell, Chuck Ricks, Mike
Ahearn, and Tom Brokaw.
As to starting a DINFOS Alumni
Association Chapter at Ft. Meade, Rubak will contact Mike
Gannon at DINFOS to find out the status.
