A meeting of the Executive
Council of the DINFOS Alumni Association was held on August
27, 2005 at The Golden Corral Restaurant, 7920 N. Shadeland
Avenue, at 9:00 AM. Present were:
Jack Rubak, President
Bob Foster
Tom Conrad
Mike Davis
Helen Stritt
The President opened the
meeting by giving a report on the not-for-profit status of the
Alumni Association. He explained that about a year ago the
Treasurer’s records had been turned over to Bob Dittmer, who
was to go over the records, prepare a report and turn the
report over to his accountant, Robert D. Shaw. Mr. Shaw was
then to file the necessary papers. Dittmer explained he would
check with Bob Shaw to find out what he has done toward
obtaining our “not-for-profit status.”
Rubak then mentioned that he
had received a letter from Cal Posner with names of alumni to
add to the Association’s mailing list.
Information about the school
has fallen to a minimum. When we were last in contact with
Colonel Bell he was in Afghanistan working on setting up a
training program for public affairs in Iraq. Rubak mentioned
he would again reestablish contact.
The names of two nominees for
the DINFOS Hall of Fame had been submitted -- Les Payne and
Tommie Tompkins. Rod Hargo submitted Les Payne’s name and
Dave Terry submitted Tommie Tompkins’ name. Hall of Fame
Nomination Forms were sent to Hargo and Terry for completion
last April but have not yet been returned. We will follow up
on this. Also, we will solicit additional Hall of Fame
nominations in the notice of our next meeting.
A date for our next meeting
was discussed. The first date chosen was October 1 with
October 8 as an alternate date. Speakers were also discussed,
and the following persons were selected: Diana Penner, Mike
Ahearn or Don Lundy. Craig Ito will be asked to contact Diana
Penner, and if she can’t make it, Mike Ahearn. If neither of
these is available, then Tom Conrad will contact Don Lundy.
The question about
memorializing the deceased members of our Alumni Association
surfaced again. Consensus was to provide the DINFOS Ft. Meade
library with a collection of books in their honor. Dr. Rubak
will contact Ft. Meade to find out the name of the current
librarian. A suggestion was made to start the collection with
our deceased Commandants.
The meeting adjourned at 10:35
AM.
Respectfully submitted,
Jack Rubak, President
Helen C. Stritt, Secretary
